Domain Parking, in it's simplest term, is a way to generate income from a registered domain name that is not presently used or being reserved for website development or selling purposes. Some people consider this kind of business since they can profit from their bought domains without worrying about the time consuming and complicated aspects of building up a website such as content creation, web design and management as well paying for hosting services. The domain parking company makes arrangement with their advertising partners such as Google to provide ads on domains parked with them. It is through these ads that a domain owner makes money by means of a pay-per-click revenue sharing scheme.
An online friend of mine has introduced me to this type of money making opportunity in the internet. After learning the benefits of parking an idle Domain Name, it was then that I realized how I just wasted one whole year of not making any use of the domain name which I registered at my preferred domain registrar, Netfirms.com. A year ago, I registered a domain name for the purpose of creating a website just to promote my affiliate programs. But, being a newbie back then to the world of blogging and creating webpages coupled with having little knowledge of html codes and the bugs as well as some personal problems I was facing, things got messed up and finally, I gave up on it. After being informed of how one can monetize an idle domain name through domain parking, I renewed my domain name registration with Netfirms just a couple of days before it expires.
Now that I've learned about this very interesting side of online money making, I want to share with you the knowledge I've acquired.

Parking a domain is quite a very easy process. In fact, the most difficult part of this business are acquiring a good or preferred domain name that is not yet registered by another person and optimizing it. Here are the basic steps to guide you :
1. Choose the right domain name. This involves deciding whether to use a hyphenated or non-hyphenated domain name
2. Register your chosen Domain Name.
3. Decide on which company to park your domain or domains. In this case, my friend recommended SEDO. You may refer to the abovementioned list of FREE domain parking providers.
4. You can then proceed to creating an account by filling up a form and indicating your domain name or list of domain names. Please take note here that, usually, an e-mail address from a free e-mail service provider is not accepted.
5. Wait for confirmation a e-mail, an acceptance or approval of your application.
6. Redirect your domain traffic to your chosen company which can be done in either 2 ways, namely, through Name Server Forwarding of URL Forwarding.
7. Customize your parked domains by choosing layout and other settings as provided by the company.
8. Carry out some optimization methods for your parked domain to obtain possible maximum earnings, and this is the more difficult part in this business.
